Music Playlists for the PTSD Soul

Music…it is food for the soul. We all listen to it. We all love it. I have never met anyone who doesn’t enjoy a good tune. Personally, I have a playlist for every mood. I can put my music on shuffle, and the perfect song will play. Yup, I have cry music music to put me in a good mood, music to pump me up, music for when I feel like partying. I love it all. So…I’ve made music playlists for the PTSD soul – playlists that help me through some of my more common moods.

Just the other day, I was in my car, on the verge of a panic attack. You know, the usual ‘worried about the future, stressed about bills, not sure how everything is going to work out’ kind of moment.. I was doing my best to keep all my thoughts calm, my breathing steady, and my tears non-existent. But lo and behold, one of my brother’s favorite songs comes on…and a river just pours out of my eyes. Audibly letting everything out, my panic starts to fade away. I just needed to let it out.

In my life, I have found so many amazing songs that portray what it is that I’m feeling, and I thought I would share them with you. So, below, I have complied lists of good CRY SONGS, UPLIFTING SONGS, and SONGS ABOUT MENTAL ILLNESS/SYMPTOMS.

Please keep in mind that any/all of these songs could contain a trigger. Please listen cautiously. If you find a song that triggers you, TURN IT OFF RIGHT AWAY. Don’t listen to it. Move on. It’s OK.

Note/Trigger Warning: Any songs that have a (*) next to it means it’s a song that contains content related to God, Heaven, Angels, faith, etc. I hope you enjoy!
